Charles Clark was born in Carroll, Iowa, on February 1, 1933, to the parents of Blanche and Alfred Clark. Charles grew up on a farm just two miles south and west of Jefferson with his brother Darrell and his three sisters: Ramona, Nedra and Beverly. Charles came to rest on April 21, 2019, at the Boone County Hospital. He was 86 years old and lived a very fulfilling life as a farmer until he retired in 2010, and as a husband, a father, a grandpa, a great-grandpa and a roller skating guru.
Charles married his high school sweetheart Clara Busch in 1954 and they had four sons, Dennis, Rick, Tim and Randy. As if being a fulltime farmer wasn’t enough, Chuck, Clara and the boys made the decision to purchase Spinning Wheels Skating Rink in Ogden in 1976. The boys helped out when they could but that did not slow Chuck and Clara down. They operated the rink until they sold it in 2016. WOW!! 41 years
Charles loved farming, his family, roller skating and all the trials and tribulations that went along with them. He would always rise to the occasion when times got tough, would always find a way to provide for his family and make time for relatives and friends. They all meant the world to him.
Charles was preceded in death by his son Ricky who passed away on Jan. 18, 2014.
Charles is survived by his wife Clara Clark of Ogden; sons Dennis (Brenda) Clark of Shawnee, KS, Timothy (Helen) Clark of Ogden, and Randy (Terrie) Clark of Waseca, MN; sisters Beverly Scherbart of Ames and Ramona Stewart of New Hampton; grandchildren grandchildren Amanda (Jim) Heilman and Ashley (Eric) Sash of Mankato, MN, Lacey Hike of Altoona, Breanna Clark of Salt Lake City, UT, Shawn Clark of Shawnee, KS, Toby Clark of Ames and Anna Clark of Cedar Falls; step-grandchildren Josh Netcott of Rochester, MN, Nathaniel Smith of Seattle, WA, and Andrew Smith of Ames; great-grandchildren Hailey (Amanda) Heilman, Connor (Amanda) Heilman and Logan (Ashley) Sash, all of Mankato, and Eli (Lacey) Hike of Altoona; and many relatives and friends.
